There is melancholia in the air, some kind of autumnal ennui.  I want to be back in New England, I want to be here, there, anywhere.  I suppose it’s the slow fading of light in the afternoons, the smell of rotting apples in our backyard, the imperceptible change in the temperature of the wind that comes in my window at night.  I’ve started sleeping in a sweatshirt.
